Meet the Family Behind Wool & Whorl

Hello and welcome to Wool & Whorl!

We are a Muslim family with a love for farming, creativity, traditional crafts, and working with natural fibers. Behind Wool & Whorl is a family journey built on hard work, patience, and a passion for creating things by hand.

my love for handmade crafts began in my childhood in Iraq. My mother was my first inspiration. She learned sewing, crocheting, and spinning from women in her neighborhood when she was young. My mother taught me sewing and crocheting, my sister taught me knitting, and when I was just eight years old, my teacher introduced me to hand embroidery. These early experiences became a lifelong passion.

My husband and I later bought an empty piece of land and, together with our four children, spent nearly four years building our farm from the ground up. We worked step by step, creating our home and farm with our own hands.

Along the way, I returned to my love of spinning, knitting, crocheting, weaving, and sewing, while discovering many other crafts.

Eventually, we decided to turn our passion for natural fibers into a family business. With the help of wonderful friends, we prepared our barn as a fiber-processing workshop and invested in wool-processing machines to bring Wool & Whorl to life.

Our goal is to help local farmers and fiber producers transform their raw fleece into beautiful roving and yarn while supporting small farms and keeping traditional fiber crafts alive.

For us, Wool & Whorl is more than a business. It brings together generations of handmade traditions, a family's hard work, and a dream we are building together.
